1. A number of these varieties are already being grown by producers with varying degrees of success. Certain of the older selections have never been adequately tested under Alabama conditions. Some of the very recent releases appear worthy of evaluation. Gorwers may wish to make small plantings of these varieties for on site evaluation.

2. The values given for chilling requirement are estimates.

3. Fruits are somewhat soft for long distance shipping and are primarily of value for local marketing and PYO.

4. Because Flordagold blooms quite early, it generally ripens before the projected ripening date of 34 days before Elberta. It has questionable potential in south Mobile and Baldwin counties only and will probably bloom too early even there.

5. S (small), M (medium), and L (large).

6. Overall hardiness rating (winter bud hardiness and flower hardiness) is as follows: P (poor), F (fair), G (good), and E (excellent).

7. Among the best in season (in their harvest period) for commercial use in south Alabama.

8. Patent rights controlled by Stark Bros. Nursery, Louisiana, Mo.

9. This selection has non-melting flesh (like California canning clings) and appears to have good storage life and firmness.

* Indicates fruits are best adapted to this type of marketing.
