Typically an open shrub, colonizes loose soils. Several compact horticultural varieties can be found in the Arboretum collection.
Cultural Requirements
Endemic to the deep south coastal plain. Most of the species natural range occurs on peninsular Florida. It is very tolerant of soil and light conditions.
